Recent Events

We have a  had a lot of good stuff going down at cable road lately. We had 3 days of good waves. Wednesday was overhead and glassy in the morning, Thursday was waist to chest all morning, and Friday was waist to chest most of the day. The waves yesterday were about waist high and glassy in the morning,  really fun and punchy. Julian Wilson won the U.S. Open Of Surfing a few hours ago. We may head out for dawn patrol tomorrow morning in hopes of scoring some waves. Besides that here are two go-pro shots that my man Dave took using his hero mounted on a boogie board.-lars

Epic Day

Alright, We're going to put this short and sweet, today was a pretty sick day! We woke up in the morning, checked the cam and we greeted by head-high perfection. We headed down to cable and the waves were firing. We headed out for 3 hours of perfect peeling waves, way over head on us. We all caught our fair share of good ones and altogether had an insane morning. The waves soon were ravaged by onshore winds so we decided we should go jump off a bridge. We headed to Rye Harbor with our friends John, Henry, and Jack, straight out of Texas. We got right to work on insanity doing anything we could. Here are the photographic results. -Lars and Carson

Jack and Henry, So all of a sudden Henry(in red) comes running over, "hey there ya'll. Jack an I should dive the railing." So that's exactly what happened, except they hucked superman fronts instead. So that's what happens when you show a bunch of crazy Texans a bridge to jump off.

New Skeg handplanes

Since I last posted I have made 3 new hand-planes for our company Skeg. We are still experimenting with new materials as well as shapes and concave. We are not going into full production mode yet but if you are interested in getting one then you can talk to us using the e-mail on our contact us page. Here is a look at two of our newest prototype creations. The one on the left is made of white birch with wings and a diamond tail. The dimensions are 10.75 inches tall, 6 inches wide, and .75 inches thick. The wood to the right is simply plywood and is a dished concave fish. The dimensions are 11 inches tall, 6 inches wide and .75 inches thick. Check em' out -lars

Hurricane Season

Well... the peak of the hurricane season is almost upon us, and honestly there hasn't been many hurricanes.  For the cable crew, this has always been the high point of the summer.  Mainly because this is the only chance to ride their step-ups.  We are crossing our fingers that this hurricane season will go out with a bang.  And while we wait, here are some photos of hurricane Irene last year that you can check out.

Straw's Point

Normally, this spot never breaks, because the  water is in excess of 25 feet deep

Even on big swells, this spot is supposed to be flat.  Rarely does this happen.

Wood Working

Just recently I have started to experiment with building my own boards and now wooden fins and
hand-planes. I have now made 2 wooden hand-planes with more in the works along with 4 sets of fins made from white pine. I have really been working with foil and shape on the fins(we have longboard fins, keels, and standard thruster fins) as well as concave and channels on hand-planes. Everything is coming out really well and I am ready to work on new ideas and designs with our crafts and fins. Crowley, Carson and myself recently created a small company called Skeg. We will begin to sell our hand-planes soon and possibly fins when we figure out how to attach them to boards with glassing them on.
