Fun session

Had a great surf session this morning just outside of Boston.  The waves were perfect 6 foot and the wind was offshore.  Hopefully there will be many more of these days to come...

Apocalypse Nuggets

I guess if the world does end on Friday, we have gotten a great swell to finish off our lives.  I just had probably one of the best sessions of the year in NH and am stoked that the cell phone can actually take alright photos.  Here is a recap of today in case you missed it...

If you know how the North Hampton State Beach is normally, you can recognize that this was a huge swell

Huge New Hampshire Swell

Heading up to NH tonight for some monster waves in the morning.  The buoys have been reading 17 feet all day, and now the wind should switch to give us some groomed overhead waves.  I am bringing my 5'6'' , and my trusty 6'2'' for if it gets any bigger.  I'll keep you posted on how the waves are.  All I know is that there will be CARNAGE!!

Parko wins

In a heroic bout between 11x world champ Kelly Slater and Joel Parkinson, Parko overtook the king at Pipeline in less-than ideal conditions.  With every heat the pressure switched from Kelly to Parko, than back to Kelly, and so on.  In the end, Kelly was beaten in the semis by Josh Kerr, who was battling a shoulder injury that had been with him for a few months.  It was an all-Aussie final, and Parko took the crown, winning 75,000 and the all important ASP title.

RI photos

Here is probably the most low quality pics I have see, but I promised you they would be seen so, here they are...
At this point the swell was dying and the high tide wasn't helping much..., but I got some alright waves on the longboard
These photos don't show the 50 other people I had to battle in the lineup

Wake surfing

It may not look like surfing but it sure is fun. I came across this photo of me wake surfing for my first time on my 2011 Colorado trip. Wake surfers ride a thin skimboard like surfboard on the largest part of a boat wake. You pump and maneuver to stay in the "wave" while doing turns and spins like surfing. It didn't really feel like surfing but was a blast. -Lars

RI surf

Some more photos soon, just had a great session down in Newport, with some barrels to be had.  Found a nice right on one side of the beach, and got some good waves.  Also, if you haven been watching, the Pipeline Masters are going on, and it's coming down to the wire going into the final day of competition.  It looks like it will be a shootout between Kelly and Parko, who both have the potential to clinch the world title.  Keep an eye on Friday, as there is supposed to be a monster swell for the final day.

Get It

Crowley keeping the standard high even when its flat.

Vans Triple Crown Update

On a further note about the triple crown, right now there is a nice looking swell on the way for sunset, and waves could be upwards of twenty foot faces, and the locals are beating even some of the top pros.  Some highlights are Kalani Chapman, and Ezekiel Lau.  Stay tuned as the surf continues to grow.

Changes

There's some exciting stuff going on in the surf industry right now. One of these events is Nike's repeal of surf sponsorships. When Nike bought Hurley in 2002 these brands began pushing the limits if the surf industry with new products and events. All Nike Surfing team riders will now transfer fully to Hurley. On another note the Vans Triple Crown Of Surfing is going on right now. There is so incredible surfing happening and you can check it out for yourself at www.vanstriplecrownofsurfing.com. There hasn't been too much swell in NH lately but we are looking to get out is some decent surf sometime soon.

Thanksgiving Swell Part 2:

Here are some more photos from the swell.  We surfed a semi-secret spot on the north side of Seabrook/Hampton.  Other than that, I can't tell you exactly where it is.  The spot is great, and here are some good shots of the waves.  The day these photos were taken, we searched all up the coast, and, because of the fog, could not see where the waves were breaking.  It was hard to get any action shots until the afternoon and by then, we were without a camera.  We ended up taking a shot in the dark at the spot, and scored.

Wave Check- Fox Hill

Probably one of the faster and more powerful waves in NH, though it can get localized, and VERY CROWDED.  Remember, if in doubt, don't paddle out.  This spot has the benefit of having 2 takeoff sections, so if you are not one of the best out there, stay on the inside peak.  There can be barrels there if you are lucky. -Carson
The lineup on an average good swell there.

Summer

Here is a short sequence of me in 2010. I know I have been posting a lot of old stuff but I have been digging through our old Picasa albums and have found a ton of stuff. I have a lot more to post and hope to be getting some more recent photos to. -Lars

The Beginning of Winter

I guess it is that time of year again... winter.  The water, now a chilly 50 degrees, and the air, even colder.  We may start to see some of the bigger swells of the year pop up, and, to be honest, I have no idea how big it will be.  But here is a clip from 2011 to put these waves in perspective.

Looking Back

I was searching through my photos the other day and found these. They are from a July day in 2010 when I was 11 years old. I don't know why but these shots just stood out to me. They seemed very vibrant and clear. It made me remember all of the great summer days we had. This day could not have been better. It was warm, clear, and sunny. The waves were perfect in my mind. 2 feet and glassy, it was easy waist high on me. Just Tristan and I all alone. We could not have been happier. Back in those days I rode my 5'8 twin fish. I loved this board and how I could catch every single wave effortlessly. I did not even try, I just cruised.
While lots of other kids were paddling around on their 4 foot short boards I was catching every wave and developing a  laid back, smooth approach.  Here are a few photos of me from when I was 11 years old and 4 1/2 feet tall. Lars
