Rhode Trip

Jose, who you may know from his photography during our last good swell, came a long with me to Rhode Island.  He was a little skeptical about this spot we told him about, but was amazed at how good it was.  the wind was hard offshore, and the waves were FIRING.  By the end of the session at this crowded "secret" spot, the waves had picked up more than two feet.  There were the occasional closeout sets that no one made it over, but overall it was fun.

To sum it up: We went to Rhode Island and we scored... HARD.
-Carson
You know when there is a solid swell when the left at Point Judith is closing out

Keep in mind, that outer break is a half-mile away.  When you see a 15 footer barrel off at the entrance to the harbor, it just makes you wish you had a jet-ski.
This is normally flat when it is chest-high

The dots are surfers, and this is one of the smaller sets of the day.

Sandy Cont.

I honestly shouldn't be hyping about this swell as I am, but when three different websites are calling for double-overhead surf, it's hard not to.  I am hoping to get some good surf tomorrow in RI, then catch the main bulk of the swell in NH on Monday.  If this swell truly is this big, then we may see one of the only "real" big-wave sessions of the year...

Throwback

Here are a few shots from April vacation of last year. We had a ton of good waves and it was super sick. The blog has been pretty slow lately because of lots of homework and lack of waves but hopefully we will be back in full swing highlighting all the waves we get from Hurricane Sandy. These pics are from of some of the many rippable days over our spring break.

Hurricane Sandy

Hurricane Sandy is heading our way as you read this. It is expected to be one of the largest storms in quite a while. They are predicting massive open oceans wells up to 70 with waves at beaches exceeding 15 feet. Sandy could be one of our best swells in a while so dust off that old gun and get ready. I will have a more in depth report soon. -Lars

Going Places

Cable Crew Chronicles was born 6 months ago at the hands of Carson and I. Our goal was not to become a web sensation but an interesting site with lots of pics and writing about surf in NH and more specifically the beach at cable. I just got the new Eastern Surf Magazine and there is a small paragraph about our crew and the blog. It's not much but I guess it means were going places. Hopefully every out there is enjoying it and we are working to become even more appealing to all sorts of ocean enthusiasts. Make sure you check out the new ESM and keep coming back to the blog, we have a sick winter ahead of us! -Lars

John

Check out this sick photo of Cable Crew member John on a glassy Sunday swell!  Looking forward to more of this in the winter, but add about a foot of snow, and drop forty degrees...

We Are Ready

Winter needs to come. This is my least favorite part of the year. Sure there is swell but there is no snow or warm sunshine. But winter is close, we can feel it. Leaves are falling and the water is getting colder. Here is 2 pictures of me going straight on a 1 footer, covered in neoprene, in every New England surfers favorite season. -Lars

Good Summer

Here is a few photos of us hanging out at cable over the summer. We had some fun waves but I am ready for winter. -Lars

Past Summer

I just found a few shots of Carson and I from the Molly comp. I have not posted much lately so will post some pics from the past few months soon. Carson's in blue and orange and I am in white. -Lars

The Beginning

It is starting to get colder outside, which can only mean one thing... great surf is in store.  Winter has always been a time of big surf, and this year is no exception.  I am already getting my winter suit out of the basement, and waxing up for what I hope to be one of our best winters to date.  Here is a video from another blog, The Granite Stoke, on what it is like surfing in the winter in NH...

Joel's new Longboard

Joel's waxing up his first longboard in a long time. He's probably going to do the first ever chop-hop on a longboard. There is no chance of catching a wave at cable anymore. -Lars

Rip Curl Pro

Another good beach-break contest to watch.  It looks like there might be some good waves, and there was already a freesurf that went down on the first Lay-day, with many barrels to be had.  Keep an eye on this one, as many are in contention to win it.

Lil Nubster

Well as some of you may know early this fall I made myself a lil nubster fin. It worked all right but I wanted better. I just picked this up little guy from Cinnamon Rainbows and hopefully it will work well. -Lars

Molly Pics

Here are a few shots of Carson(in blue) and me (in white) at the Molly contest back in August. The Rip Curl Pro in Portugal starts this week and should be a barrel fest. -Lars

Thank You France

This year has probably been one of France's best year for waves, and Quiksilver put on a great contest.  With highlights from Kelly Slater Winning, to Parko's stand-up barrel, this was something to see.  Hopefully we can see more of these in the future.

Change

My trusty Dwart has defiantly been put to use. I have surfed on this board for hundreds of hours and am not slowing down. This is definitely my favorite board and probably will be for a long time. I have drawn all over this thing and finally got it all covered up by Joel. Here is some of the color that's seen my 5,0 Dwart. -Lars

Crowley's New Weapon

Check out Crowley's sick new 5 star. It's a 5'7 swallowtail and should work really well on those bigger days.

I Miss Winter

Some Photos

I was digging around for a topic for the blog and found these sick shots of some surf in September!  I think this was from one of the weekends...
